I downloaded a great app on my phone that lets me but I find it is hard to pick it up because it must be moving so much but it does work great when I get to hear it. I wanted to rent one but I am in a little town and would have to travel 2 hours to buy or rent one so I didn't bother and I will have to travel 2 or 2 1/2 hours to a city to give birth because they won't do it here in this town

I'm high risk as well. I was going through ultrasounds every couple weeks during my entire pregnancy last time and no issues. That being said, have you looked into renting or purchasing a doppler? Some women get one to listen to the heartbeat when they are nervous.  I've seen some sold on amazon for $45 +. Than you can listen anytime you want.

As much as it's ok to warn people of risks, there's no need to put any extra worry on a parent as pregnancy is worrying enough. Some people have no choice weather to have extra ultrasound scans especially if in a high risk pregnancy and if they were linked to any sort of medical problems or cause any damage to the unborn child they wouldn't be performed.
