baby shower before or after baby?

ok, so as most of you know we are having a little girl! before I knew this I had planned on having the baby shower after she was born, thinking it would be nice for everyone to meet the baby. Now that I know what it is I kinda want to have it before, that way I can get eveything I need and I wont have to worry about attending a party after giving birth. I have recieved mixed reviews from friends and family. I posted this in the 18-34 forum as well.

i have only had one shower...out of 3 kids, and that was for my youngest son.  we had it on his due date, since he was a c-section and born a little early.....it was also my mom's bday so it was special.  if anyone decides to have a shower after baby, it could be more of a introduce baby shower....but regardless i am sure you will have fun and enjoy being pampered during this event.

i wont be able to have a shower, as this is my 4th child and although i am starting from scratch, there is just not enough people that i know to attend a shower...lol

good luck on whatever you all decide on this topic.

i have decide to have the shower before!! mainly b/c i dont want her getting handed off to who knows how many people, i think being a new mom i wouldnt be able to handle it.plus the shower is kinda about me? isnt it? and yes the baby as well but my friend was like its celebrating that you are going to be a mom. and yes i would like to have everything before baby comes, that inlcudes washing everything and such.
thanks ladies!!

I also vote before for the same reasons as the other ladies.  For me, this is my first baby, so I want to make sure I'm 100% prepared in most ways as possible for his arrival.

I voted before too!  It will be less stressful to have a shower beforehand rather than you having to hustle to get things you need before your daughter arrives.  This way, you get a ton of stuff and then you just spend time figuring out your last minute stuff you didn't get.

I say b4 as well, only b/c imagine being completely beat rwight after having her, then having to be the co-star of the party, and on top of that do you realize the mound of stuff you will have to go through, wash and put away! You can always do a little get together for her bieth announcement afer she is born, it just wont be a gift thing, just a nice bbq or somthing, It should be nice out! That's what were gonna do! :)

i say b4 bc that way you know what you need to get and have everything done b4 baby gets here, bc more than likely after baby you are not going to want to do ne thing but relax at home!

do you want to have to buy all the stuff for the baby that are needed when you leave the hospital and when you are first at home proabably not so have it before let others cover that cost.

Get the things you need!  You can always have a gathering at your house after the baby is born for people to meet her, but the shower is SOOO crucial!
