I have now just found out that if I have IBC like they think I wont be able to have a midwife. So it all depends on the results. I may have to have an OB I guess it is good that I already have one that I some what like.
well i had a midwife for my daughter, and it ended in a induction and then c-section....and the other 2 were sections....sooooo i HAVE to have a obgyn as this is gonna be yet another section...lol
although if need be if the doctors are not available a midwife can see me for a prenatal appt. but they CAN NOT do sections so i do have to have a obgyn for delivery....lol
abbieball- and midwifes are now covered by alberta health care.......at least that is here in alberta. i know they have been in other provinces as well! lucky us!!
Its an OB for me, especially cuz my first pregnancy ended as a c-section there's a big chance this might too, but even though I think I would be more relaxed with an ob, you never know when things (God forbid) might go wrong or you end up (like I did with my first delivery) needing an emergency c-section. Thats why I prefer to have an ob nearby just in case.
I am having a midwife at the hospital and just so you know if you have a at home birth here in canada with no assistence you can have a doula present to know what is going on if it is going ok.
I'm having a VBAC, so it would probably be pretty stupid of me not to go the OB route.
hkenny~ midwives can still deliver at the hospital, well here in the states at least, I guess I'm not sure about there!
A Doula can't deliver can they, I thought they were just a support system??? If I were having a vaginal delivery I would LOVE to try a Midwife, :( but I have to have a section so mine will be my OB!
I wanted to go the mid wife route but since this is my first my hubby and family arent thrilled and b/c i dont know what is going to happen i am ok with being in the hospital. i pretty much guarantee for the 2nd it will be a midwife though.
