Expensive

Anybody worried about the cost of the baby the first 5 years?  My husband and I both work and live on a very tight budget.  He's a nervous wreck about the cost and kinda doubt getting pregnant now.

Babies dont to be expensive. Breastfeeding is not only cheaper than formula, it has the added benifit of less doctor visits for babys in a daycare setting. Breastfeed babies are generally healthier which means less doctor bills, lees time spent away from work and fewwer times that you have to pay the childcare provider if the child is not there. Aslo, babynlead weaning means you dont have to spend money on jared baby food, as long as you are eating a reasonable healthy diet baby can eat what you do with in reason.  Look into bed sharing or cosleeping  and you dont need a crib. Look to second hand furniture for the babys cloths and second hand cloths. IKEA makes a great cheap crid. Cloth diapers are great for mom on a budget.  While it feels like you are spending a lot up front, the savings are big in the end. Try to avoid most unnecessary medical interventions during labor ( epidural, I.V. fluids, pain meds) as they all add to your bill. Also, if you are expecting a boy,  consider keeping him intact ( not circumcised) as many insurances do not pay for this cosmetic proccedure ( that is what it is billed as, they are not mediaclly necessary) as that can be a $500 procedurem. These are all just food for thpught type of things.

Any financial changes are stessfull so dont let a baby scare you. You will figurw out the best way for you family to save money. Plus if this is your first, you will be blown away by what people will buy you.

Don't worry to much. You don't have to buy all the expensive things a lot of new parents buy. Example, use a pillow instead of a boppy. Do not spend a lot of money on clothes b/c they grow out of it so fast. You can use cloth diapers instead of disposables, be imaginative during play time. No need for fancy toys. Shoes are pointless until they can actually start learning how to walk so don't go crazy buying a bunch. Breastfeed to avoid having to buy formula, they're expensive. You also don't really need expensive laundry detergent for babies. These are just some things to cut on cost. Oh n make ur own baby food.

I have two kids all ready and I have found the money isn't something you see all at once come up. The first year will be the most expensive since you will need diapers n if you don't breast feed formula. I suggest like the other ladies did that start buying diapers now try doing  a box every pay day. I know after this month or so that's what I plan to do and I'm going to get my mom and mother in law to do it as well ( they like buying baby stuff lol) I also plan to find support groups for breast feeding since I had trouble the last couple times :) hope that helps

I have a 2 year old and am expecting. Dont stress the small stuff....look for higher paying jobs or something if you are too stressed. They are expensive, but get 2nd hand clothes,   cheap diapers(start buying early) or even cloth diapers?, try breast feeding/ pumping(formula is expensive). Hit up yard sales and internet sales. :) good luck to you! It is all so worth it!

My bf and I aren't too worried. I'm only 8weeks and 4 days. If u start buying early it will help in the future. We will start buying diapers and bottles and other stuff like that after this month. The big question u need to ask is the cost really worth it?? For me the baby could cost me millions and I'd still have it. We live with my dad and my bf n dad both work yet I stay home. But think if you really want this baby and if its worth it to you. There are govern help stuff u can get(I live in Canada) but its worth checking into. Good luck!!
