Our prince has arrived

Finally, he is here. He was due on the 27th but arrived the 21st at 39wks. I started having my first very distinct contraction at 2am. After monitoring it for a couple of hours, I noticed they were contractions due to their return every 40-45 mins. They became more forceful during the day and I wasn't able to retain fluids nor solids. By 7pm I was at the hospital at 5cm dilated. Baby's heartbeat was checked every 15mins (annoying!) and pain intensified. I was meant to start pushing at midnight but they found baby had turned (I think it was because I was in our hot bath tub earlier, which I wouldn't have done had they not said I should do this). Anyway, baby was back to back but midwife still made me push! What terrible pain, felt like we made no progress. I ended up pushing on the bed on my back (my worst nightmare! wanted all fours) and on a birthingstool (another nightmare) but these didn't work. Due to my contractions widening after this, they advised medical interventions: stirrups, suction cap and episiotomy). Once the doctor intervened, it only took a few pushes and baby was out. The relief was undescribable! 26 hours of labour, still can't believe I survived! I was so proud to meet my little man. He came out literally kicking and screaming! We are so happy and relieved he is here. Thanks for all the support on the forum and best of luck to all the ladies still waiting. Your princes and princesses are on their way!
