Concerned about my pets.

I have a year old cat and a 12 week old puppy. I'm due November 20th so they will be older by then but does anyone have any experience on the reactions from your animals when you brought your newborn home? Also did they react to your hormones during the pregnancy?

We had five cats when our first baby came home.  One became her protector, and the others were a bit curious.  During my pregnancy, one of the cats (who was previously rather aloof) was more loving and affectionate.  Nothing else really changed at all.  I think things will be fine.

Thank you! that is very helpful. Hubbys not too happy but hes on kitty litter duty for the next 9 months(:. I will definiatly have him bring home a blanket like you said before i come home. Ive heard the milk thing about cats too, thatconcerns me because i dont want her trying to sit on my babys head or attacking him/her. I'll see what I can find out about techniques for keepong the cat out of the crib while he/she is sleeping. Thats good to hear about dogs though. My puppy is the baby of the family right now so i was concerned about jealousy.

Well first off I must say please keep in mind now that your pregnant you shouldnt be changing kitty litter, its a big no-no. Our roomates had a cat when I was pregnant and he loved laying on my belly :) I would introduce a blanket that baby has been wrapped in to your kitty and puppy before you come home from hospital. I havent had much experience with cats but (not to scare you) I heard you have to watch them because they can smell milk on babies and can be a hazard. Puppies/dogs arent as possesive but its best to have hubby/boyfriend come home first to have them get used to babys scent. Hope its helpful info ;)
