Hyperemesis gravidarum?

I am pregnant with my first child. At 6 weeks, I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG). I am suppose to be elated/ overjoyed at this moment and although I am grateful to bring forth this miracle, this as been the most difficult experience of my life! I have been unable to keep down any foods or liquids for 6.5 weeks. I have been hospitalized for dehydration 3 times. At my worse, I was vomiting 14-33 hours non-stop. I have lost 26 pounds thus far. I've been forced to take FMLA from work, withdraw from school (Ph.D program) and stay in bed. I'm now on a 24 hour Zofran pump (to stop the nausea and vomiting) and IV (to obtain nutrients). Has anyone else had this experience?

My bff went through this with all 3 of her pregnancies. The last one she felt relief by her 5th month. She is now very slim and hasn't been able to really gain back the weight. She does breast feed.  She always has a rough pregnancy.  But she did say prevacid worked for vomiting and it's for acid reflux.  Good luck

Thank you Nisha! Prayer has been the ONLY thing that has helped me make it this far. Kesh, thank you for sharing. They say if you have it with one pregnancy, you are 80% likely to have it with all pregnancies. I'm hoping there is an end in sight soon. I'm not due until Nov. 2nd, but I want so bad to eat and not be confine to all these needles and cords 24 hours a day! So I can enjoy my pregnancy!

I went throught that from week 7 to week 12 i was also at the hospital. The first time i went the stupid nurse just told me to suck it up. Then the second time a different nurse diagnosed me and my Doc kept me in the hospital i was on Zofran for 3days. Thank God that since I got the attention I needed i've been good and haven't vomited at all. But it is really hard i was so weak all the time and i wouldn't keep anything down i worried but now everything is ok and i am enjoying my pregnancy
