periods and o'ing

ok, so i was "taught" about my body like this
period then ovulation....you can menstruate but not ovulate.....

so can you ovulate in a month and not have your period before hand? that is why i keep saying my doc is "throwed off".....i had a period in december, missed in jan, tested on feb 16th.....midwife got heartbeat on feb 22nd....doc says no fing way, she doubled mine(dude, she used a doppler?).....if i should have had period on jan 8th, and DIDNT how the heck did i ovulate in january, hence concieving on or around jan28-feb4?????

or CAN you o and not have a period? oh by the way, i used an opk in january, just to "check" something(why lie, i was bored, same way i took an hpt hehe), and i DID NOT o in january....at least FROPK said i didnt

omg, that'd be soooo awesome to find out i'm more like 34 weeks lol...which going by my lmp, is where i SHOULD be....

stacey-our bd'ing was on the 10th(my b-day), and like the 15th? b/c i know we didnt bd for the whole 2 weeks before df went to KY to see DD, and he left like the um, cr@p, like feb 5 or so?     and i've only cheated on him once, but we were having that whole "i just broke up with someone for you was it worth it?", and that was in october of like 2005, so i'm PRETTY POSTIVE.....but yea, i agree, it's not like i know ANYTHING about my body.....dang, i wish i'd have bought another hpt back in jan, rather than just assuming i wasn't preg b/c it was an evap line....esp since my BFP's are still BFP's.....idk i go friday, so we'll find out then!

my dr had my dudt off too..they were saying I was small gestational and bby was too small for my weeks. turns out after my second opinion, they were still insisting on counting when they thought I conceived. I told them no less than 20 times we only bd'd 2 times in jan and my hcg (from unrelated bloodwork ) was 15.4 on jan 15th. The bd dates were 1-3 and 1-28 pretty darned clear cut! But why assume we know anything about our own bodies....

Most definitely!  Yes, you can Ov. after a missed period.

I hope you get some answers on the 15th!  Sounds like you're further along than they thought maybe?

thanks for the reply.....by my LMP, i concieved between 12-25 and jan 1....i missed my period in january, found out v-day i was preg....dr says he doesnt care, that i got pregnant between 1-25 and feb 2.....and i figured out the HB thing on my own lol, and with the help of the midwife....

i guess i should update this....apparently(before i switched), my dr's nurse called me and said he'd been reviewing my file, and my u/s's, and wanted to send them to his partner for another look....at my june 20 appt, he said the baby was 16" and 2lbs(by sonogram weight was guessed).....but apparently he feels that something is up with the baby's growth, esp when at just 22 weeks, my uterus was already up beneath my ribs, rather than below them.....

however, i've switched dr's (apparently lucky me, as i'm 7 mos and dr agreed to take me on!).....the new dr is going to do a totally new work up on me aug 15th.....my new dr's nurse has mentioned the "oddness" of my midwife's finding a heartbeat, as well as dr saying i got pregnant, when even had i had a period, he's putting me at ovulating later, not the "usual time"?....and said with me having irregular cycles it is as if he is assuming i have a 30 day cycle, even though i'm known to go 4 months w/o periods.....

so after my appt on the 15th i'll post new info.....my question here, was can i ovulate and not have a period previously? i know youcan have af and not an O, but didnt know if it could happen vice-versa.....

Actually it's ovulation, THEN period.  (Not period causing ovulation)  So if you had a period in Dec., you likely got pregnant around 2-3 weeks (depending on how regular your periods are) after the first day of THAT Dec. periodm, thereby causing a "missed period" in Jan. because you were already pregnant.  She wouldn't have gotten a fetal heartbeat to show up until you were maybe 7 or 8 weeks along.

As far as the due date, I would go by the earliest ultrasound and current uterine measurements.  You can have a range of 7 days for your due date, too.

Hope that helps!

well my last u/s was june 24...baby was measuring 16 inches, nearly 2 lbs(which i though was rather large for just 21-22 weeks).....idk about me....but the u/s changed due date to the 20th instead of 25th....now on the 17th, i had a "hi how are you lets check HB" appt.....and he did a measurement with a tape, and he put it at 2 inches or so above my BB, but ended up moving it all the way up to nearly 4 or so inches above my BB....i feel "him" literally a couple inches below my breasts.....and when he flips, i can feel pressure under my ribs, not below.....

I would go by your ultrasound.  I am suprised they haven't given you another one.  You need to discuss these matters with your doctor if you are concerned but I think the baby will come when he wants to.  What is your belly measuring?

yes, i really think my EDD is off...the midwife i saw put it at sept 12-18(you know, the braod spectrum)...all of my ultrasounds said october 25, but in june, when i began my 3 week appts9instead of monthly), my due date changed to the 20th(5 days in 3 weeks)...and i just used mental calculation, and at an EDD change of 1 day every 3 days/mo, i'd deliver closest to the beginning of october, making it where'd i'd have ovulated later in december, more like the week AFTER xmas, instead of the night of(lol, yes i thought i o'd dec 24-26, and that's going by an LMP of 12/11/2007).....

idk me and chris have just come to the conclusion that alex will come when he wants, but i guess my main concern, is i've had midwives as well as my aunt who is a L&D nurse tell me the dr is supposed to stop preterm labor, and if i go in the early-mid part of sept, my dr will think it's early, when in fact i could be on time...and also that the baby is better 3 weeks early, than them repeatedly trying to stop labor, hence an overbaked tator ;) apparently over baked tators ( hehe ), can have skin issues, as well as other problems....

I am sorry, not really sure the answers of your questions.  The girls in the pregnancy 21-34 may know more.  I never had trouble conceiving with either of my pregnancies, in fact got pregnant the first month after going off BC both times.  I know I am blessed.  Do you think your due date is off?
