I'm curious about how many women here have had interventions, whether it was induction or c section or both.  Just curious.  It seems like a lot of us have had them for one reason or another.  Please let me know:
Screen Name    -      induction yes,no     -     c section yes, no     -     dr recommended, patient request

I have never been induced.....I've had one c-section 21 years ago with three vbac's since. This latest pregnancy (Gabriella was born 10/08) ended three days before my due date. I went into labor on my own.
My c-section 21 years ago was so traumatic that I have refused epidurals for the three births since. All I have allowed is Nubain for pain and its only good for a one time shot.
I will say though that his last pregnancy went on longer than the other three. The day I went into labor I also had a scheduled doctors appointment and if I wasn't in labor was going to talk to him about inducing the following Monday because it would be after my due date.
I guess my LO had other plans and came the day of my last doctor's appointment. She was alot bigger than any of my other ones and that caused me great discomfort. None of my other babies reached seven pounds and she weighed 8 pounds 10 ounces. I joked that I was having a first grader.
It is true that even though it is a pain not knowing 'when' your LO will let  you know the time and the date of their birthday. I know that there is no solac in that as there was none for me either when I was in your shoes. One things for sure you will have your  baby just think of it this way. He/she is just showing you who will be the boss from now on, lol.
Wishing you a quick and managable birth.

I know, I'm 4 days late with this little guy.  Maybe today will be the day for both of us!  I have my 41 wk check up tomorrow, and I'm sure my OB is going to try to talk me into induction.  The average baby comes at 41 1/7 weeks.  That's 8 days passed the 40 week mark, so I'm not rushing this one.  Most countries don't even give you an exact due date, they just say "the end of October", etc.  We give way too much control over to the medical establishment here in something that should be a naturally, biological occurrence.  I read an article that said that at 10 cm (some women go to 13 cm) women are sometimes told to hold their knees and push.  The article went on to say that if so many instructions/interventions were given to the process of mating, there'd be a lot less action going on!  Could you imagine, a doctor on the sidelines in your bedroom!  Too funny.  I know women can rupture if they push too hard before fully dialated, but I also believe that the woman's body knows better when to push than a medical book on averages!
