what are peoples opinions on the castor oil way of inducing labour? i am officially over due today! and getting more and more impatient! any opinions / experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Castor Oil is a big no-no! I would never recommend a woman drink that. If your body is ready to go into labor then there are other ways to stimulate it to start. Membrane sweeping, evening primrose oil, etc.

Go for a reflexology session - heard that is great and natural and not horiible tasting or gives you cramps like castor oil.

You are so close and castor oil can be dangerous.   There are other things you could try that wouldn't be considered dangerous.   sex & orgasm,   spicy food,   long walks.

sorry but i dont have any experiences but i too was curious about it i will be 40 in 2 days (fri) and boy oh boy i am so uncomfortable plus thing is i 3 cm. i sure u already read up on it and know there a chance of baby BMing before he or she comes out i personally dont like the thought of running to the bathroom cuz i have the runs ya it cleans u out for delivery but i also heard your body does that too in preperation for LO's arrival. let us know what ends up happening!!

I have heard good and bad things up to it being dangerous.  If you are going to attempt it, I would make sure your doc is ok with it and knows exactly what youa re doing.  I know it is so uncomfortable now, but it cant go on too much longer before you get induced anyway!!
