my son never cried at all. there was no special cleaning, we just put vaseline on it every time we changed the diaper and I think that kept the urine from getting on it. it started pussing yellow about a week later (which worries every mother) and then with in days from that it is healed. so basically before your stitches are out, it will be healed. it seems so much scarier than it really is!
From what I was told by my childbirthing teacher there is a ring type thing they put over the incision and that there is not any special cleaning we do to it. And it will fall off on its own and when it does it means its healed. Hope this helps!!!
I'm all for circumcision. I don't recall if my nephews ever cried out in pain or had pain from urinating. I would ask women who've had baby boys before. ;-)
thanks for the info. i talked to a midwife lastnight about it too. we were discussing vacination options for the baby and so on. for any one who is interested she was saying how in Jewish tradition they wait for the 8th day, which is when baby starts making their own vitamin K, plus they are stronger, we were discussing whether the vit. k shot was neccesary for baby at birth and she said definatly get it if we plan to circumcise him. just a little FYI, now i remember talking about it at birth class, but so many things to think about its overwhelming to remember it all with your first baby!!
i just keep thinking about how painful it must be for a baby boy to pee after having it done!! and cleaning it while changing him. anyone have experience with it? like how long it takes to heal and do they show visible pain while changing? i almost would prefer not to have it done, but daddy wants it, plus i think it would seem easier for him if his looked like daddy's does, circumcised
They do it at the hospital before they go home. Also ask if they have anesthesia for it as some hospitals do NOT (which I think is awful).
They should do the circumcision before you guys come home. My son they didnt but that is cause he was a preemie and they had more stuff to worry about then that but when I said I wanted this one circumsized they said it would be done before we brought him home. I would just ask at your tour of the hospital Good Luck and Congrats.
LOL, i can't even spell it right!!
