I gave our little girl sweet patatos lately, she loves them! We are using sprout baby food, we'll be making some more later but with the time of year we just don't have too much good fresh stuff. And the sprout baby food is organic, when looking online DH also found it for just a little more than what we paid for food with our son (so that was nice!).
The first veggie I gave Anjali was peas & she LOVED it.. She didn't frown at me either and she smiled after she first tasted it. I'm happy about that because I HATE peas and won't eat them!
How are the babies doing with the food? I got a magic bullet this past weekend and made Peri sweet Peas. She loves loves loves them. I couldnt believe she didnt frown once. The dr just suggested I wait 5 days to introduce new foods to her.
Were starting our girl on that today! But as she's 4 months were doing Oatmeal not rice. Our son had so many constipating issues with rice that we are skipping it for now. She JUST started drinking like crazy (and no she's not growing this time). If she takes that well in a month (maybe before that) we'll start other foods.
Just an update, my doctor has a 2 quart rule... I guess if your baby is drinking more than 32 ozs I believe it is, then he suggests introducing rice cereal. He said just about a tablespoon once a day mixed with breastmilk or formula to the consistency of malt-o-meal. I haven't done it again since once at 2 months, but I think I will sometime soon.
I've started Anjali on the rice cereal maybe 2 weeks ago. She was 3 1/2 mths. I want to start her on veggies and fruits but we're going to wait until we take her for her 4 mth checkup and see what the dr says.
I know how excited you must be to introduce all this stuff to her though....I can't wait until Brady can start eating solids too! I bet it'll be messy but cute!
@heatherm4 you could be right. I looked back on the blog I kept for my other daughter I introduced Sweet Potatoes at 5 months. Before I give her anything I will run it by her doctor. If he says wait then I'll do that however if he gives us the green light she'll be eating good :D
I thought it was still way too early to introduce foods yet? I thought they weren't mature enough to get it to the back of their mouths and swallow? They have a big risk in choking because of it. That's why I thought everyone waited until 5 or usually 6 months.
Ya, I guess my mom was an old hippy in that manner. Jacob will usually eat anywhere between 6 and 8 ounces.... usually around 6 though and its usually about every 3 hours.
Navy drinks anywhere from 4 ozs to 8 ozs. Just depends on if she's been sleeping or burning a lot of energy quickly. It shocks me when she drinks 8 ozs in one go though!
@szw2008, you were only breastfed for the first year?
I started feeding the cereal by spoon and she was ok with it. I sent some by Granny's today to give. I also plan on running our plan by Peri's doctor next week so I'll see what he suggests also. I won't start meat until after 6 months. Also I'll be getting Peri's ears pierced after her 4 month shots.
How much milk are the babies drinking at this point. Peri still drinking about 6oz sometimes 6.5oz.
My doctor suggested introducing cereal at his 8 week checkup so we did once and he LOVED it, but I just didn't keep up with it. Last night we went out to dinner and gave him little pieces of bread and again... HE LOVED IT! We stick to gerber though. I think my doctor suggested going with light colored vegetables first. I dunno when we will start introducing that. I was breastfed until I was a year old and I was fine so who knows!
I'm starting off with rice cereal her first month, veggies the second month and fruits the third month and meat the fourth month. I don't think we're going to start until 6 months though since that is what my doctor is recommending.
