Mine never really stopped "leaking" from my first pregnancy (and my son's now 2). They don't leak much, just a little now and then.
Even when I was breastfeeding I never used the pads, I just made sure I pumped frequently enough. My midwife said I shouldn't need pads till after the baby's born because the milk won't fully come in till then.
My coworker and I are both pregnant and two weeks apart. We both have been having tender itchy nipples which we nicknamed the itchy titty syndrome. The other day mines started itching so badly I was rubbing them and felt something wet and sticky.. Later once I got home I tried squeezing them and low and behold I started leaking.. its only on my left side for now. This is my 2nd child so I dont know if its normal to start this early or not, with my daughter I didnt leak til after she was born. As far as getting pads. I wouldnt waste the money till you need them to be honest. More than likely you wont need them til after the baby is born. I never used them with my daughter the leakage never went thru my bra padding.
Mine never leaked till I gave birth, but right after that, they had the colostrum coming out. I have actually seen the little white specks of "something" and I squeezed my nipples too, to see what would happen but nothing came out. Thank goodness. I worse breast pads till my daughter was 10 months old!! I had to or I would be soaked... but if you're leaking even a little now, I'd say go ahead and buy them, you will certainly need them and use them later on if you plan on breast feeding!! (....hmmm, that gives me an idea for a forum post! )
I noticed the same dried white stuff on my nipples, but I dare not squeeze them. This morning I noticed that they are really sore to the point where if anything rubs on them they hurt. I am very uncomfortable this morning.
I cannot remember if this happened with my first since it was so long ago, but just in case I think that I will go out and buy some pads.
