I haven't heard of the pitosin thing either as I had it to make my labor progress in my first labor. I thought it was so strange the birthing room I had my last son in (it was like a delivery from a strange movie lol) but it could have been the epideral playing tricks on my mind. My first son was born at a women's "clinic" and it was all nice and very private and the room where you had the baby is where you stayed only on the opposite side of the room. My second son was a bit different because it was in a regular hospital. Labor room, delivery room and then recovery room. I ended up sharing the recovery room for half of my stay which I didn't like at all. I am sure I will be taking a tour of the military base here soon enough :) Definitely don't settle... Find one that you like and since this is your first it will probably be easier than driving the 2 hours that I did the last time after my water broke Lol!
with my first I was not put on potosin afterwards, that's actually the first I've heard of it!
Honestly, I say check out the other hospital! Maybe you'll find that you love (or even hate) the other hospital, it never hurts to give it a try.
The hospital I delivered at has rocking chair, birthing balls, etc. And the Mother and baby rooms were also where you deliver (unless you have a needed c-section). Honestly, I LOVED having the delivery room also be the room I stay in, it made it more comfortable. I haven't viewed the new hospital I'll be at this time (I'm in a different city now), but from the birthing binder it's just like the first one I was at.
If the other hospital is anything like either those two I'm sure you'll like it more then the other one. 15 min isn't THAT big of a deal especially when your dealing with comfort.
Good luck!
