Membrane Sweep

So I will be 37 weeks 5 days at my next appointment and am considering asking for a membrane sweep.
I have been so uncomfortable lately and am hardly getting any sleep at night---- BAD back pain, heart burn that won't go away with medicine, swollen feet (even flip-flops too tight), and constant soreness in my stomach.

I am already 3 1/2 cm dilated and slightly effaced. Also, baby is measuring about a week ahead :)
I'm not sure if my doctor will agree to it, not sure what their policy is but I really hope so! Anyone had a membrane sweep done during the 37th week? For what reasons?

My dr from my las pregnancy wouldn't do it until I was 1 week late :(  And it didn't even work that time.  Finally at 2 weeks late it did work.

There's no harm in asking, when it comes to sweeping the membranes from what I've heard of others say (and from my experience from last pregnancy), if the baby isn't ready to come out it won't work.  If the baby's ready it has a decent chance of working.

To: Heatherm4-- I know :) but time seems to go so slow at the end of pregnancy, lol.

To: cocaolapanda--- that *****, I really hope my doc does it before I'm overdue at least. And I think my body is just stalled because I've been dilated the same for 3 weeks now and having very irregular contractions.

I know that most doctors won't do it until right before your due date or until you pass your due date. But its always worth a shot to ask! :)
