Sex after baby/ contraception

Ok...so this is a little embarassing. DH and I haven't had intercourse since I gave birth almost 10 weeks ago. I want to but I'm crazy nervous to. I had lots of stitches and it actually took a while to heal and even for the bleeding to stop. I'm also nervous because I'm not on birth control and I highly doubt we will use condoms. Just want to know if it's normal to have waited so long. Has anyone used spermicide? I don't want to go on the pill or anything hormonal because I end up being a crazy person on things like that.
I'm also breast feeding so I'm not able to track or know if I'm ovulating either. Ugh!

I'm on the mini-pill and it hasn't effected my supply.  I was actually the opposite, I was SO ready, I think we waited about 5 weeks.  I only had a few stitches so it wasn't too bad this time.  It was a little weird the first time but after that it actually felt normal.

With my son I had a LOT of stitches so I was worried as well.  At 6 weeks we tried it and to be honest it did hurt.  It was more of an uncomfortable hurt though.  I'd just say to take it slow and try to be the one in control so if something doesn't feel good then you can change it.

I didn't know they had IUD's that were non-hormonal.
We actually did end up having sex the other night but it hurt a little...it's taken a long time for my small tears that are on either side of my urethra to heal and that's where it hurt. Still a little tender I guess.
Thanks! I feel a lot better. I guess with this stuff we always feel alone but I love coming on here and knowing how I feel and what I'm going through is normal!
And ya Pips....us too didn't have sex much in the last trimester unless it was to induce. DH got a little weirded out by it because Brady was very active in my tummy.

When I had my first I didn't have sex for 4 months after I had her. This time I did it a little sooner but I think when you're ready you'll know. As far as birth control I breastfeed and I didn't want anything hormonal since my body freaks on that kinda stuff but I cannot go without since I seem to be really fertile and spermicide and condoms irritate my skin. Dr recommended the paraguard iud. Its a non-hormonal iud that can last up to 10 years. So far I've had no problems with it and I've had it in for 3 weeks now! :)

Don't be embarrassed ... Chloe will be 10 weeks tomorrow and we haven't either, for all the reasons you haven't.  To be quite honest ... I still don't feel like it.  I don't know if it's hormonal or what ... but it's been a really long time.  I had contractions while pregnant starting around 22 weeks, so except for once at the end to try and induce labor we haven't since then.

I am also breastfeeding and want to use rhythm method.  I've had great luck with it before ... mine are now 10 weeks, 8 years and 12 years ... so it's obviously worked.  I had either a period already or a return of postpartum bleeding (not sure which) so I'm worried about fertility as well.  I stopped for about a week and a half and started bleeding again at 6 weeks post partum for another 2 weeks.  That was weird.  I guess I'll know soon if it was a period because I should have another.  I have noticed a lot of cervical mucous though lately so I'm scared to do anything because that makes me think I'm ovulating.

I'm anxious to hear other's stories and what's going on with them.
