baby shower question

I'm 18wks and need to know if I should try and throw my own shower cause I was always under the impression someone through one for the expectant mother. I ask mainly because my husband's military and we are moving away from my family right as I enter the 3rd trimester and we'll be in a state with no one around to celebrate with. We can't have it in the new state with future friends cause he'll be busy with work/school training and are only there for 6 months. We'll also be to far away for any family to come to it. With all that being said my family knows when we leave and no one's offered to throw one and I can't justify spending money right now on food and decorations and invites when we leave in a month and a half. This is my 3rd pregnancy but FIRST child and everyone knows this so I feel kinda hurt I'm expected to throw myself one when they all know how little time and money we'll have do to moving. I'm torn. What should I do and what's the proper etticate to who throws the shower??

I'd just have a celebration and call it a joint baby farewell celebration!  I dont know if I would tell ppl to bring presents... but thats just me. spending timewwith family n friends is important before going away.

Think of it as a going away party. You can get straight to the point and tell everyone that since you won't be around them when baby is born if they want to they can bring baby items.

I am asian and we don't have the practice of throwing a baby shower BEFORE the baby is born.   Personally if time and money are tight,  I will not throw this shower.  The stress of such will hurt more.

Throw it before you leave whether you have to throw it your self. Its important to be around your family and friends when your pregnant you  need that support especially since you are leaving to a different state. I say forget the rules of a properly thrown baby shower do what makes you happy :) -bless you  hun i pray for a healthy pregnancy for you
