The only birthing plan I have set for myself is the after care of my daughter. I'm a ftm and I want to see how I can handle the process. I want to go all natural but am willing to allow pain meds if needed. But I just want no medical intervention right away if it's not necessary and delayed cord clamp, that's about it. Everything else is going to be decided by myself during labor. My mom is going to be there for me and she naturally gave birth to 3 of my sisters and had an epidural with myself and my twin because they require a epidural for in case of a c section.

@eesscott I actually laughed out loud at you suggesting you would punch your husband if he said that!! Hahaha!  I'm exactly the same. It must be so hard on men to have to deal with as mainly a bystander and potentially take abuse when they are trying to help :-/ I don't think I would be any use at all as a birthing partner!

My hospital has a paper to fill out that list some birth plan items.  It includes: What are your greatest fears or concerns, who may be present in the delivery room, what positions do you want available, what pain medication, who cuts the cord, do you want restricted visitors for an hour after birth, do you want to do the breastfeeding crawl, etc.

I am also creating a paper for my husband, since he really likes having things to reference instead of trying to remember on his own. About how I like massages (hard in some areas, gentle on others, don't touch me here) and then tips for how manage me when I'm cranky and in pain. If he said "you need to try and relax" I'll probably punch him in the nose so instead say something like "how about we try some meditative breathing now?"  Lol.  That's about it though!  Mine won't be very detailed for the actual delivery.  I'm 37w3d so I suppose I should probably get started on writing it too...!

This is my 3rd pregnancy n have never had a birthing plan. Or actually written down. I guess in my head my birthing plan is just to deliver the baby vaginally if a medical emergency prevents it then c section. That's it. I don't think a written one is really needed.

Just Google birth plans to get an idea of what info should be included.

This is my first pregnancy and I have detailed what birthing positions I want to be in, that I want to be active in labour, my thoughts on interventions and pain relief (which might change!), the type of music, lighting, essential oils I want, type of foods and drink I want to hand. I've written out my hypno birthing affirmations and yoga exercises that assist labour in case I need reminders. Also what I want once baby is born - delayed cord clamping, immediate skin to skin, vitamin k injection. Some of my birth plan is relevant to the medical staff and some to my doula and my partner so that everyone knows how to support me as best as possible. Then again, who knows how the birth will proceed so it may be completely useless but it made me feel reassured writing it.
