is it too cliche if we announce the gender at a party with a cake color?

We are doing cake pops with chocolate icing a the inside will be pink or blue. We are giving one to everyone and we will all bite at the same time. My husband and I will also be surprised as we are giving the baker an envelope with the gender :) not cliche at all its your moment do it how you want :)

I'm doing my shower a little differently. In the invitations is going to say what baby is. Then I'm going to find out if we are having a Mr or a Missy. I'm so excited.
