If u put the fathers name on birth certificate will he have any rights or is it only if he is present to sign the birth certificate?

It depends on your state and on your marital status. In Ohio, if you are unmarried, even if his name is on the birth certificate, the mother has sole custody and the father has no rights without a visitation/custody agreement. That does NOT mean he has no responsibility- ie child support.

That's true dragon..it's doesnt matter name or no name if he says that's his baby n court he will have rights. If u disagree they will order a DNA test and he will get paternal rights it's the law! Just makes it easier when the fathers name is on there. The only way he doesn't if he goes to court n give up his rights that's it! My aunt works in family court.

It doesn't matter weather he signs it or not. He has rights to the bady. Courts will look at DNA tests before they look at a birth certificate. When I was 17, my mom forced me not to put my son's dad's name on the certificate. He still had rights and still had to pay child support.

I'm in Pennsylvania.  I don't know how your state/ country/etc is but my first child's father forgot to put the date next to his signature and they left all his information blank when the birth certificate arrived.  We had to do it all over.
He will have rights faster if you let him sign the birth certificate at the hospital.
