My baby is here!!

His name is Jebrael Cham and he was born September 13, 2008 at 2:30 am. He weighed 6lbs. 4oz. and was 18 in. long. I delivered him at 38w2d because my water broke. I had just gotten off from work on Friday at about 3:45 and drove home. I went to the bathroom and felt a trickle of water. I called my husband and we got our hospital bag and rushed to the car. As soon as we got to the car I felt a gush of water come out. By the time I got to labor and delivery I was completely soaked. I was checked and it turned out I was already dilated 4 cm but was not having any contractions. I was put in a room and and at about 7 pm got started on pitocin to start the contractions. At this point I was already 5 cm. The contractions started right away and it was pretty painful. I didn't think I could take the pain so at about 9pm asked for an epidural. It did its job wonderfully, I did not feel any contractions after that. 3 hours later, at midnight, I was 10 cm dilated. The doctors told me they would let the contractions bring the baby down for another hour before I started pushing. At 1 am I started pushing my baby out and he was born 1 1/2 hours later, at 2:30 am. I had a 2nd degree tear and felt the ring of fire. It was very painful, but so worth it.I am soo in love with my baby, I still can't believe he is here, and he is healthy!!!

I am doing the same. I am pumping now because he's just not latching on. I took him to the dr. today and he gained 5 oz so I am happy. That brings him back up to 6lbs. He had gone down to 5lbs 10oz. How much milk do you get with each pump. I don't get much, I get less than 1/2oz, so it's very frustrating. The doctor just told me to keep pumping because he benefits from whatever breast milk he can get, and I also have to keep giving him formula.

Thank you all for the comments. I will post pics as soon as I can. I've been very busy trying to breastfeed. I am having a hard time, but I am still trying. My baby has lost some weight so I am supplementing it with formula. Hopefully he gains weight for my next appt. on Monday.
