Glucose test results...

I just got a call from my nurse with the results of my glucose test and she wasn't too happy. My level was 144 and she said it should have been 130 no more than 135...~sad face~...So now I have to do a three day "diet/fast" beginning on monday and then I have to do the three hour test on Thursday...I really, really hope that the results are better with the next test...I don't want to have to go on insulin..I am tired of needles!! The lovenox shots I am taking are getting harder to do because my stomach is not so "soft" anymore ...

Hello all...the test wasn't that bad...I had four blood draws and was so tired and sleepy, I crashed as soon as I got home...I had to drink that stuff again but this time they gave me the lemon lime flavor! MUCH BETTER than the orange stuff...it taste like a flat Sprite...I should have my results in a few days and praying that all goes well...

Juana...I feel the same way about the needles...so many things I'm dealing with....I also have to take lovenox......but like i said if you have to take meds you may be able to get the oral meds.   Good luck.

I failed the one-hour test so badly that I didn't have to take the 3 hr!  How do you like those apples.  Somehow it came back at 190-something.  My jaw dropped.  

Well bring a book with you to the 3hr the 1hr was pretty boring.  

Worse case scenario is that they'll call in lancets, glucometer, and test strips and send you to a nutritionist.   Depending a week of testing and proper diet they may or may not put you on insulin or some other diabetic oral medicine.  I'm already seeing a perinatalogist for other issues and the perinatalogist will manage the gestational diabetes.   I'm not suprised I got it, i was borderline in my last pregnancy about 14 years ago.   Oh well.    

Eat a high protein breakfast before you go in for the test.  Good luck.

Thanks everybody..the diet they have me on is for the birds! LOL...Test is tomorrow morning and I have to wait two days for the results...I think all will be well...I don't feel any different!

i will keep you in my prayers, my cousin had gestional diabetes but she didnt have to take any insulin, she was sick a lot and she had a big baby with a big ole head.

I think the problem is that I ate a really good honey bun before I went to bed...I am going to take it easy this on the food front this week and see how things turn out...

I have heard of a LOT of people who failed the one hour test but passed the 3 hour test.  Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to watch your diet from now on, though.  I'm feeling sure that you will be fine and not even have to do those cruddy insulin shots.  I'm with you on that ~ I am soooooooooo tired of shots!  I can't wait until they are a thing of the past.

oh man sorry to hear that. I'm getting mine done on 6/12 so we'll see what happends. How is your diet now? Do you eat a lot of sweets and breads? That could have affected it.
