Thank you ladies for all of the comments! I am unable to find the fuscia color that I wanted and now DH told me that after he re-enlists they are going to put him on the list to move him further north so I am thinking that I might not even paint the walls at all! I don't think it will be worth it just to have to move in a few months after she is born... I was thinking more of the dresser with the hutch drawer and adding the changing pad to the top of it. I am definitely going with a convertible crib because my son is about to get into a big bed after a crib and a toddler bed. I don't want to have to buy more furniture until she is in grade school lol. I am just so indecisive and definitely want something that is going to be perfect since she is my only girl =)
I also wanted to put in my two cents..lol...and say that craigslist is such a great resource to find great quality furniture and gliders for baby rooms. I know for myself that I cannot afford brand new items unfortunately but I have found some really nice cribs, dressers and gliders for cheaper prices. Just thought I would put that in if anyone is like me and can't afford the brand new stuff!
I agree that changing tables are not worth it. I have always just changed babies in the crib or on my bed/couch/floor (while using a plastic changing pad under the baby). Putting a larger changing pad on top of the dresser is also a good idea.
With colors you are describing, I would totally go with white the crib/furniture. Sounds like you could get away with a crib, dresser, and glider only. The gliders are expensive but really comfy - but I only like the ones that rock more than glide. People sell them used on craigslist all the time - it is a way to get one at a more reasonable price.
I think that a changing table is a waste of money. It can only be used up to a certain weight then it's an extra piece of furniture sitting around. If you plan on getting a dresser find one that is about waist high and put a changing pad on top of the dresser. If you get a hutch on top of the dresser you can put all the diaper stuff needed in the different cubies. You can also just put a basket on the end of the changing pad to keep all the stuff needed in.
I wanted to buy a new dresser/hutch for the changing table but of course BF wont let me. We ended up getting a dresser that is to high to use as a changing table so I am using the changing station on the pack n play.
I am definitely going with the fuscia for the color (I love the color!!! So PINK) for the walls and the more I look at it together I am thinking I need to go with the white wood lol. I think I am just totally unsure but the white is actually looking better and better every single minute... There is a store here that actually sells baby furniture that is painted different colors! Ugh! There is just so much to chose from. I am also thinking about getting a crib that has the changing table attached to the end of the crib since the room has limited space... I have never used a changing table though and am kind of unsure of them (my mom always told me that if you have a bed you don't need a changing table lol) but I am sure it will come in handy when she is finally sleeping in her crib (I plan on using a bassinet until she grows out of it)... I also am going to get a glider or some kind of chair to breast feed her in... I am unsure of that too =) I feel like I don't have a single clue what I am doing!
when i was picking out my sons nursery i took wood samples home and checked them out with the room...i then returned to the store and custom ordered his nursery which is the same set im using for this baby
maybe the stores have some samples to send home with you to help put the picture together?
