I never thought about it that way. I guess it makes sense though. But in Lily's case, she is finally working on crawling but is sleeping better now than she was a few months ago. Just goes to show, every kids is different :)
thanks everyone. a developmental pediatrician I work with says that around the time babies start walking, their sleep changes and they sleep really lightly for a few months (secondary to the brain waves changing and getting ready for all the new skills). I guess this makes sense as he is getting so close to walking. I stopped feeding him when I found this out. I find all the second guessing the hardest part of parenting - it has been really really hot here and I was worried that maybe he was hot and thirsty and needed a drink. He got really upset a couple of times and seems back to normal now. Phew!
lily was great in the beginning and then all the sudden she was waking up at like 3 to eat for awhile. the doctor said she doesnt need food in the middle of the night and just to give her water. so i stopped taking her out of the crib and put a sippy cup of water in the crib with her. she was pissed for about 2 days but has been sleeping great ever since. we just had to get her out of the habit.
Could be a growth spurt or due to feeding. All my kids have had phases like that.
