How can soon can you find out the gender of the baby?

Normally when your 20 weeks but it depends on if the baby's legs are open

i know someone who couldnt wait to figure it out and found out a 14 or 16 but thats because she had 3-d or 4-d ultrasound but most find out at 19 or 20 weeks .
