Make sure you have a removable shower head wand, I had an episiodomy and was swollen I couldn't get myself to pee without spraying water on myself. Worked better than the bottle they give you at the hospital. Ask for extra pain spray, underwear and pads. Drink lots of fluid and take your stool softener and go the bathroom. I was afraid and got constipated worse thing ever. Buy a bag of frozen peas to use as an ice pack when you come home and tucks pad. No one told me how hard postpartum was going to be. I was more worried about labor which was a breeze compared to afterwards.
What about breastfeeding and working a full time job and being over protected of the baby any tips on that ladies
Don't be afraid to ask the nurses for help either! Those first couple of days can be terrifying; the nurses are there to help you. Ask them to show you how to bathe, clothe, feed, hold, change baby. I guarantee no one will mind offering you a helping hand. Nobody expects you to know it all, there's no shame in asking for help.
Wish someone would have told me this when breastfeeding make sure u breastfeed on both breast and use nipple cream when become dry
Deff love those sore nipple tips. Gotta try this! Thanks ladies.
Thank you ladies that was very helpful information I be definitely use it
I agree with areal10 ^ she said everything I was going to say!! And the box of diaper tip is good one too definitely true!!
Don't feel bad if you don't have everything perfect. There will be day's when all the baby does is cry. You won't have time to keep up on the laundry or house. You may not have the time or energy to cook a good meal. You may feel like crying cause your overwhelmed. You may run an errand by yourself & not notice you have spit up on your shirt. You may even feel like taking extra bathroom breaks just for the silence. Its all ok though. It takes time to find your pattern & to make a new routine :)
When someone offers you help, let them! Don't think you need to be superwoman. If someone asks how they can help you, give them a simple chore. Ask them to do the dishes or make you a light lunch or sweep your floor. Don't feel guilty about it. They are asking because they want to help so take advantage of it! It will make your life so much easier.
Buy boxes of diapers at a time instead of just a bag here and there. It might seem like a lot of money but you get a lot more bang for your buck in the end.
For all the Mommies to be,who are, gonna, breastfeed don't,let anyone tell u that u can't breast feed because u had your nipples pierced trust me...I had mine done, and, still fed my baby just fine
Best tip I can think of is simply RELAX!! You're going to make mistakes, you won't be able to do everything, so don't stress over stuff and just enjoy the time you have with your little one
Thanks for the tips, y'all.
Glad its helping someone:) any more good advice ladies?
These are great advices! I'm 36 weeks today so I'm definitely going to remember these and apply them to make it easier. Thanks to all you women <3
It's okay to ask for help.
Trust your instincts and ignore advice, this is YOUR baby and you know it better than anyone ever could. Go with your gut even if it goes against what everyone else is saying
I wish someone had told me the real pain breastfeeding can be at first. All the nurses and lactation consultants told me it shouldn't hurt if her latch was correct (which it was) and I sat there for the first couple of weeks thinking something was wrong! You have to toughen up your nipples, break them in. If you have a good latch and it still hurts, don't worry. Just give it time, after the first couple of weeks I promise the pain will stop
Colostrum and milk also work great to cure sore nipples. When you're baby is done pinch your nipple to extract colostrum or milk and rub it on your nipple.
Mt tip for ftm is expect to bleed for a long time after birth. I had a csection and i bled for almost 3 months.
Best advice I ever got on raising a child (not applicable for about three more years for a woman about to have a baby, but it helped so much it's worth mentioning) -- don't push potty training. It happens on the child's schedule and it WILL happen.
If u decide to breastfed- make sure to get nipple cream for sore dry nipples. And when ur finished feeding express some milk and rub on nipples. And get plenty of storage bags bc ur breast will become full at time when baby isnt ready to eat again so u can store.
If u have to get stitches from birth u can sit in a warm bath with liquid lysol (brown bottle) in it. It takes away itching and burning. About 2 cap fulls will do.
