Try to have small snacks through the day. I don't know how to reduce your reaction to the smells, but you need to keep your nutrition up. Maybe some celery and carrot sticks with baba ghanoush, or hommus. That would provide some good nutrition and hopefully reduce your reaction to the smells. Otherwise, something I've used if you can't snack much is breath mints (or an appropriate substitute). They can fill your mouth and nose with their smell and I never had a reaction to that particular smell.
