Awsome! Both of kids have so sick since Christmas! I haven't taken them outside because it has been so cold and I'm afraid they will catch something worse :/
No way, what happens is their voice box swells and their throats are all full of mucous. Throw some warm clothes on her and bring her out for a few minutes! It will tremendously help her. I usually do the hot steam from the shower then bring my son outside. Along with his breathing treatments.
It's very cold here, like last night it was 1°!! Is that too cold to take her outside?
Ya she seems totally fine right aside from a runny nose but when age came into my room this morning it was that terrible cough and instantly knew and I was suddenly overcome with dread. I've had a few friends who's little ones have it and they end up in the er on breathing treatments and I'm so afraid of that.
My son has been battling croup 5+ time a year since he was 2. He will be 6 in 12 days. Croup is always worse at nght, and if your child wakes up and can't breathe put him in the bathroom to sit with the hot shower on or bring them out into the cold air (if its cold where you live) and it will help open up the airways. If the croup is really bad, either a doctors office or the ER will give them an oral dose of steroids or an injection of it. Croup is a scary illness. And has caused my son when he was younger to stop breathing twice. I'm a pro with this stupid sickness. Most kids grow out of it by age 5, but with my son 12 days away from being 6 still gets it on top of his asthma. Good luck!
My son's seemed to be worse first thing when he woke up, and later in the evening. During the day if it wasn't for the cough I wouldn't have even noticed anything wrong
Thank you! I've read about it and it's not to the point where she's having trouble breathing, hopefully it won't get there, so I have just been watching it. I will definitely do those things. Did you notice it get worse during certain times of the day?
My son had croup a few weeks ago, the hospital told me I would be completely fine and so would my unborn. I didn't even catch a cool during this. Because croup is a viral infection there's no much they can do for the child. The er gave mine a steroid to make sure his throat didn't close, so keep an eye on any blue coloring to the face. Tylenol, a humidifier running, and taking them out into the child air to calm coughing was the only thing they told me to do.
