Do's and Don't for a newbie

This will be my first foray into photographing babies.
Since they are such delicate little things I'm a bit nervous and would appreciate a few basic do's and don'ts if anyone can help.

I personally would not use a flash. Their features are so soft and so understated that harsh lighting would erase much of their gentle charm, as well as much of the three-dimenstional feeling. You want to capture the sheen of their skin, the roundness of their cheeks, the dewy look of their eyes,

Regarding my previous post Im particularly interested in the effects of flash lighting on newborns.
Any thoughts?
