a question about my gums. FREAKING OUT

So, I've always been very anal about my teeth had a lot of work done to make them "perfect" Iol. But after my 1 year old was born I didn't really focus on brushing 2 times a day so I was slacking on that part but still brushed just not as often as I should and now I'm pregnant with my 2 baby I'm 19 weeks tomorrow and early this morning I woke up with a sour salty taste in my mouth and when I spit (gross I know) it was sooooooo much blood like not streaks in my saliva just a bunch of blood every time I spit I could feel more come out of my bottom gum and it just kept coming out and finally after a minute or so it stopped . I'm really concerned and scared I DO NOT have dental insurance and can't afford it out of pocket . I do have permanent retainers behind teeth top and bottom and that's where my gum was bleeding so I don't know if that can be a cause also or if it has to do with pregnancy has anyone els had "gum" issues during pregnancy? ? And my gums are not swollen nor sore at all

As she said above, bleeding gums is very common. I'm also really anal about my teeth. During pregnancy you have to take extra care of your teeth just like if you had braces. I brush a minimum of 2 times a day but shoot for 3. I also floss every day. Flossing is so so so important and it takes just a minute to do. I also use mouth wash at night about 3 times a week. I also highly recommend getting a water pik. They feel so amazing and will clean your gums quickly if you feel too rushed to floss. Those are the best things to clean permanent retainers too, I also have one and know how hard they are to clean! So get a water pik if you don't have one, yes they are a little pricey, but cheaper than a dentist bill especially without insurance. If your guns are swollen and sore rinse your mouth with warm salt water and it will help take that away too.

I work at a dental office and it's very common for pregnancy to cause bleeding gums. Not only because of the increase in blood volume but also due to hormonal changes. That also cause you to have a taste in tour mouth I have had the same problem this pregnancy and the only thing you can do is pay for a cleaning to reduce any plaque or tartar.
