Due in 28 days my husband and I can't agree on a name

Since before I was pregnant my husband always says if he had a son he gonna call him Lazarus after his grandfather . At the time I never thought nothing of it cos I wanted a name for my baby thats not so common. But as soon as we find out I was having a boy he told his whole family about naming  him after his grandfather and he is so proud of it . But as the time is getting closer I cant see myself calling our Lazarus I have been trying to convince my for months but am just not feeling it. As much as I dont wanna disappoint him I can't see myself calling our baby something I dont like what kind of mother would I be if ? But every time I try to talk to him about it ends up in argument and its stressing me out and thats the last thing I need now.. and I don't know what to do cos seems to be the longer I leave it the harder we both finding it talk about  it... my question is has anyone ever been in this situation?

And I would never suggest just naming him what you want unless you want a very mad husband.

The problem as I see it is that you never said no to him when he brought up the name before you knew, just recently. My husband and I have talked about names abs he has said no and I have said no. I would be mad too if I thought of a name especially a name that mention a lot to me, and my husband didn't say no to it till I was about to give birth.

If he is really this stubborn about not even trying to compromise I say you pick a name and make Lazarus his middle name. In reality they hand papers to mom to be filled out and if he doesn't want to compromise oh well. He might be upset for awhile but I think in the long run he and his family will call the baby Lazarus anyway and others will call him by his first name. When baby is older he'll go by w/e he wants anyway. I have a cousin named Ursula, went by middle name her whole life no one calls her Ursula, I didn't find out that was her name until I got her mail lol. I doubt this disagreement will break up your marriage, so what's the worst that can happen?

It's your baby to and you do need to put your foot down and say look I have a say so get used to the idea that his first name will be what ever we decide and lazarus will be his second name. If he turns round and says I have told all my family now say well yes but you didn't ask me first did you so sort it out Good luck xx

Thanks ladies ..at least some understand how I feel.@johannaFTM that exactly how I feel after carrying the baby for 9 months I should have say in the baby's name. And its not like I said no to the name he chose I just want as his middle name his first name and I think that fair enough.I guess am gonna stop being fair and put my foot down choose the name myself since nothing seems to be work.

@unknown_jones I suggest that too u know cos even fir himself his whole family and close friends call him his middle name and everyone else call him his first name I said to him if the name his that important you I don't mind u can call him that  but no ..

I agree that both parents need to agree on the name, tell him it is not fair to push a name you do not like. I think you are being very fair by having it as the middle name and finding a name you both like. I would just tell him that it is not happening, stop skirting around it. Tell him he can either help you find a name you both agree on, or you will choose one. Hes being very immature about the situation, this is both your child, he doesn't just get to declare a name.

What if you pick a middle name you like and call your son that? My son will share 1st name with hubby but I'm calling him by his middle name.

I'm sorry but the name of the baby should be a decision made by both of u he does not get to pick the name of the baby by himself. You should tell him he can iether sit with you and you can both try to come up with a name u both like ir u just going to pick a name by urself. I feel like since we r the ones carrying the baby for 9 months the least we should get is to be able to have a bigger say on the name of the baby

Maybe try approaching it a different way. . . Look up the meaning Lazarus then try to find a name with a meaning that fits with it. I had a friend who tried that with her husband and it worked out. That way maybe to him the meaning  behind both names might be appealing to him. I hope this makes sense in what im trying to say

Mrs_phish thats exactly what I wanted as a middle name but he is not having any of it. Which make it so hard and beginning to think he doesn't want to change it mind cos he told his whole family about it but he told them without talking to me first. And I cant go with either cos I cant see myself calling myself call my baby that name and I have very strong feeling about it. I don't know what to do he doesn't even want to talk about it we just argue all the time .

I haven't been in this situation personally but my friend was in almost the exact same predicament. Have you tried suggesting using the name Lazarus as a middle name?
