FTM being induced..

Any advice when it comes to being induced? Estimate due date was April 5, last week at my cervix check appointment I only dilated a fingertip.
Haven't had any problems, been a great pregnancy. Just not sure what to expect with being induced.

It really depends on your dr. My dr just asked me if i wanted to induce at my 37 week appointment and i said yes and she cam back to the room with a scheduled date at that same night at 8 pm and like i said in the previous post they started induction at 5 am.

I was induced at 37 weeks with my first started induction at 5 am got the epidural at 7am had my baby boy at 10 am, 8 lbs 4 oz of handsome, perfectly healthy and smooth delivery, tore very little. Every one is different but i wouldn't assume that you'll get a c section bc of an induction.

Can anyone help me since we're on the subject of induction? What would be the reason for it if there isn't any medical or health problems? I'm 38 weeks and 4 day's. My midwife wants to induce me the 16th but my due date is the 20th... she said Monday she will check my cervix again before she makes a final decision for the 16th or my due date for induction. But either way she is planning on doing this I'm 1 cm dilated she was expecting a little more progress. I lost my plug lastnight and now I might not even make it to my next appointment in a week. Anyone know what other reasons she could possibly have?? I'm A FTM and I'm just as lost as you girl lol I need to know as much as I can as well!

Thanks, I will keep htat ll in ind.
If anything won't be till the tail end of 41 weeks almost to 42. She wants me to try to natural dilate, but my body isn't cooperating... So she was giving me the option. My husband is the military and we will be moving at the end of April so we are in a bind. It's a LONG drive to the next base and with airlines they ask for the baby to be 2 weeks old.So we just need to plan out what's going to happen.

I was induced at 39 weeks, everything went fine and fast, was in labor for only 7hours. I did still get the epidural because the contractions made me want to cry and I'm not much of a cryer especially if people are around Lol

To be perfectly honest, here's the simplest fact of the matter - Induction significantly increases your baby's chances of going into distress, which increases your chances of being forced into an "emergency" c-section that probably wouldn't have happened without the induction.
If you and baby have been perfectly healthy thus far there's no need to rush into an induction. First time pregnancies average just about 41 weeks, not 40. If I were in your shoes I would refuse an induction before 42 weeks because baby will have the best chance at being as healthy as possible if labor starts all on its own when your body is truly ready. I know it's tough to wait and sometimes even tougher to refuse when a doctor makes a suggestion.  But you are in charge of your own medical care and research has clearly shown that babies do better when they come on their own terms without forcing the process.
Good luck to you!
