Flying while pregnant?

I'll be flying home for my baby shower in about two weeks and I'll be 30/31 weeks pregnant and I'm a little nervous since I'm pregnant. Also, has anyone requested a pat down when going through TSA? I know the body scanners are suppose to be completely safe for everyone, but it still puts off radiation and I don't really feel comfortable going through them while pregnant.

My midwife said to avoid flying in the 3rd trimester because it could put you into labor while on the plane. Just because it didn't happen to one person, it could happen to the next.

I flew at 35 weeks, no problem whatsoever. Took a copy of my face sheet from my midwife's office in case I needed medical care while away from home but nobody in any of the 4 airports we departed from asked a single question despite me looking like I was going to pop any minute.
I requested not to go through the scanners and the patdown wasn't anything to worry about either. They have female agents and I didn't experience any groping or anything weird.
