colostrum leaking

I'm 30 weeks & was wondering when did you mommies start leaking or did you not notice till after birth?? I haven't leaked yet. I also have one inverted nipple & have dried white colostrum on that one but nothing wet.. will that make it hard to breastfeed or no?

Leaking isn't any indication of being able to breastfeed. I leaked enough to soak a shirt with my daughter and my milk didn't come in for almost 5 days after birth. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to breastfeed because my daughter was a low birth weight and losing fast and nd she was jaundiced. We nursed for 16 months though. Leaking or breast size doesn't determine anything about breastfeeding. I was a small B cup and I never had supply issues or had to use formula. The best thing you can do to be able to breastfeed is educate yourself about it because even though it is a natural thing,  it doesn't always come naturally. It's a learning experience for both you and baby. Most women CAN breastfeed, but they don't know what they are doing so they give up and say they weren't making enough milk or something. Babies are attached to the boob for the first few weeks and that isn't because they aren't getting enough. It's to regulate your supply and breast milk is easily digested so they eat more often than formula babies. If you have Facebook join the breastfeeding support group Dairy Queens and you will get so much help and advice. It's best to learn as much now then when baby is here a day trying to figure things out

With that attitude, I'm sure you will! I didn't even take home the formula samples they give you in the hospital because either didn't want to be tempted to give it to her. And I probably would have been on those hard nights where she screamed and my nipples were so sore I'd cry having to feed her. I wish you the best of luck!

Oh absolutely! I am very big on breastfeeding as well & my coworker just got back from maternity leave & she breastfeeds so its very nice to get advice from her & tips! :) I am very excited to breastfeed & I know I def wanna get as much information as I can because I wanna do this & I am determined to get it down! lol Talking to others I feel is better than reading a book or getting information online because you all are more specific & it helps explain things better, in my opinion. So thank you!! :)

You're welcome! I'm big breastfeeding advocate and I'm always glad to encourage women to nurse their baby. I didn't have any support when I breastfed or knew anyone that had so I had to learn on my own and it was hard at first. I took a breastfeeding class St the hospital and learned a little, but having the support of other nursing mothers is the best. I'm so excited to nurse this new baby! Nursing my daughter was such a great experience and I've missed the bonding. And I feel so much more confident having experience this time around :)

Thank you!! Im just worried I wont be able to breastfeed & I heard that if you are leaking, it makes it easier & you wont have any problems. My mom couldnt breastfeed because she wasnt producing any milk- so Im just scared that I wont be able to. Theres nothing worse than not being able to feed your baby naturally.

I started leaking in the beginning of my 28th week and I continue to leak every now and then. I'm now 29 weeks and I leave colostrum and a somewat clear fluid. I've just started using nursing pads in my bras and they certainly work great
