Monoamniotic twins?

On Halloween my husband and I went in for our 20 week ultrasound. We were fairly surprised to learn that we weren't expecting one, but two babies!  We were in shock but super excited, until the ultrasound tech couldn't find the membrane that separates them. After having three people look, the doctor confirmed that we're having monoamniotic twins l and told us of all the risks. We're absolutely terrified. Has anyone else gone through this? Do you know anyone who has? Are their babies doing well? I'm so scared something's gonna happen to our little boys that it's making it hard to sleep. :(

Because they share the same sac, there is a higher risk of cord entanglement. They will probably be doing frequent sonograms to check on their cords and to make sure their placenta is still sustaining them. Being able to observe them often raises your chances. Most of these twins fare very well because of technology. I wouldn't worry.
