I wont be getting it done on my baby boy. I don't find it neccesary. None of the males in my family got it and they've done just fine.

I couldn't imagine someone altering my body at birth and one of the first things I feel in life is pain. My son and husband r both not circumsized and if this baby is a boy he will also not be. As long as they keep it clean there is no problems. I did ask my husband how he would feel if he was circumsized and he said he would b upset that someone made that decision for him and that he read up on it and sex is much better when u r uncircumsized because the head of the penis is more sensitive from being covered more than when a man is not circumsized. So.... He's happy that he is not circumsized lol. Everybody has diff reasons for what they choose, just do ur research and find out what's best for u. Also ask ur baby's father how he feels about it too. Good luck :)

And to the ladies who's son's were not given any numbing medication....that's what makes it barbaric the dr should have known better. I couldn't imagine doing it without the medication. My son did feel pain but it was only that night and after that he was fine. I'm sorry your poor babies had to endure that.

This is my second boy and I will be getting him circumcised as well. I've heard horror stories and have a friend who's 2 brothers had to be circumcised at 12 and 13 due to infections.  I know a lot of people feel it's a just a cosmetic thing but for me it's a hygiene issue. When they get to be to old for mom and dad to clean them are they really old enough to be sure it is thoroughly done every time correctly?  I don't think it matters how well you did teaching them to clean properly in all areas all boys go through a stage where it doesn't matter to them, boys will be boys, and they get dirty and messy without a care. Just my thought on it and why I choose to circumcise my sons.

Mw89 my youngest screamed til he passed out too and he was newborn. And he wouldnt eat for a bit. The doctors told me it was because of the circumcision and he was in alot of pain. I was very upset and felt horrible.

Here is a little history of it:
During the Victorian ages a doctor had pretty mucj made it standard here in the us to get it done because it wpuld make boys not masturbate! Ridiculous I know. And for some reason we Americans still do it. Even thoigh other countries see it as barbaric. Which it is. It does hurt the baby. There is blood flow there @laur.  I made the huge mistake of getting it done to my first son and I watched. The doctor didn't numb him. He screamed until he passed out. And yes he was a newborn. I am not getting it done this time. Just do your research I did and that's how I made my decision.
My boy gets to keep all of his penis!

My husband and I have decided that we won't. My husband isn't, and this way he won't ask the question later abut why his is different than daddy's and wondering if that is wrong.

I'm letting my husband decide. He's leaning towards getting it done.

It doesn't hurt them one bit...  there is absolutely no blood flow that runs through it. It's just extra skin pretty much. It hurts you more than tbem.  But honestly no one should be judged if they do or do not get it done. It's always the choice of the parents..  no matter why they are choosing to or not get it done.

My son is and my new son will be also. Everyone has different options as too doing it or not. As for me my dad was in his 30's and got a bad infection and had to be done. Them being so little they don't remember the pain and my son never cried when the dr done his and he is fine.

My first wasnt but my second was and this one will be. It hasnt made any difference in my boys health. My uncircumcised boy has been just as healthy and clean as the other.  My doctor told me to do whatever the dad is since he will be the one pottytraining. But like someone else says, dont let anyone sway your decision. Do what's right for you.

I am doing it not only because I am Jewish and it's part of religious reasons, but also my husband is done and he says he would like our son to be also (my husband is not Jewish). I think that despite possible infection during healing time, there is less risk of infection in future

Mine are, and will be circumcised. The reason it is done is for cleanliness. And has been for centuries.

My first was done and my second will be getting done. It's all personal choice. Don't let people sway you make your choice. There have been boys as teens who have needed it done due to infection and there adult men who get it done because it wasn't done as a baby. It my hurt but it's not going to hurt for long and they won't remember any pain.

Unnecessary! Don't do it if u don't have to due to religious reasons.

My personal opinion on it is it cosmetic mutilation there is no benefit having it done or not done it's a religious procedure and totally unecessary in my eyes.

I opted to not get my son done. I did the research on both sides an truth be told they both have pros an cons. Getting it done you risk infections cause you took away the protective layer. Not getting it done you can get dirt or fuzz in the extra skin. Its really just a matter of opinion these. I suggest doing the research on both sides of the issue an then make a decision that best suits you and the child. Don't let others pressure you into it
