I'll probably start shopping once I get through the first trimester.  Of course I won't know the sex, so I'll just buy stuff that can be used for either to begin with.

I started buying very early and also bought consignment.. figured if I got double at my baby shower I could leave stuff at my mother in laws or reyurn/exchange for other stuff I need. I'm beyond happy that I did that because I didn't get nearly as much as I expected at my baby shower so I would have had little time to buy a lot and my financial situation changed drastically.  So for me it was a get it while I can.

To me it makes sense financially to start sooner.. spread purchases out.. but if you are good with saving u could also save a specific amount of money each paycheck and then buy things when u feel comfortable..

I'm about to turn 30 weeks & still haven't bought anything yet. But then again this is my 2nd pregnancy... I'm waiting till my baby shower to see what I have left to purchase. Do what makes you comfortable.

As a ftm I was worried about having a miscarriage so I waited a long time. I didn't start till 24 weeks and didn't get serious till 30 weeks. I did all consignment, barely spent $200. So happy.
