SHOTS TO HELP PREVENT PREMATURE BIRTH ???

hello I presently found out that I'm 7wks 3dys pregnant I have a daughter who literally just turned ONE 2days ago I'm due July 30th with my first pregnancy I went into labor at 32 weeks my daughter stayed in NICU for 29 days . my obgyn and doctors have no clue to why I went into labor so early but suggest they have a new shot they give you between 14 week and 30 to help prevent early labor and also want to check later to see if I have a short cervix. Has anyone had or know someone who has had these shots they speak of. I'm kind of worried about it and just want to take a risk and hope for a full term pregnancy this go around

Thank you ladies you all really eased my mind on this topic I do have a question though when it was time to deliver did you have any trouble going into labor on your own because of the shots

I am currently on the 17P shot to prevent preterm labor for the second time. I had had 2 preterm births before I was pregnant with my son 10 years ago and because of that when I got pregnant with him they suggested that I have the shots from weeks 16 to 36. I had a good pregnancy delivered via c-section at 39 weeks he's 10 now and fine. I'm now pregnant with baby boy #2 and since it worked so well last time I decided to do the shots again. My nurse comes to see me every week and gives me my injection and I had my cervical length ultrasounds every 2 weeks at 16, 18, 20, 22 and I had my final scan last week and because I continued to measure over 1.5 I didn't need to get a cerclage done and they are not worried at the 24th week. But I will continue my shots until week 37. I will say that I did enjoy getting to see my baby grow and get pictures from every visit something that I didn't have with my first one. But the benefits heavily outweigh the inconvenience of the whole process. I'm more interested in a healthy full term baby than anything else. So do it love it and don't worry.
