I waited until i reached 3 months just to make sure i didn't miscarry...even though it wasn't what i wanted to think about people kept telling me it was a possibility
I waited until my first trimester was over to tell everyone.
I told mine at 25 weeks and I'm a cna in order to get maternity leave in california your employer has to know by the 26th week
Well I told my boss today. She was super supportive. She was sad I waited a week and a half to tell her. Lol. I was talking to her that I feel bad bc my due date is august 15th and that is when oir college kids go back to school so they won't have anyone to help out while I am off. She told me that shouldnt be my worry and they will figure it out
I told my employer right away. However, I had a few reasons for doing so: a, I'm pretty close to my boss and knew she'd be so excited; b, I'm a special ed teacher with access too the emotional support room to assist with any issues (which I wouldn't be doing due to the potential for getting hit in the stomach); and c, I needed to leave early the day before a holiday for my first appointment, which we're not generally allowed to do, so I needed clearance. Long story short, it's all preference and dependent on your situation!
I told my employer at 8 weeks only because I have been with them for 3 years and it is local government. Most wait until 13 weeks to inform. Like others said, it's a personal preference. My supervisors were happy I told them in the beginning and began spoiling me from then on.
I agree with Sunnybry; people never want to think about miscarriage (yet it is all we think about until the first trimester is over), but my opinion would be to wait until you have got past the 'danger zone' before telling your employer. Evidential if alot of your colleagues are friends then you may want to tell them earlier as support is anyways a good thing
It depends on the type of job and work relationship.
Sounds like a personal preference to me. However I wouldn't wait til to late in your pregnancy to let your boss know, just so they can plan for you to be out of work.
I work in fast food so I don't have to lift much so it isn't much of an issue but I do consider some of them friends so I am torn on when to tell them
I didn't tell mine for a while and I work in a warehouse. Until I started having issues and had to be out on light duty I never said anything.
