Thank you ladies and yes i think they are complete garbage i just did another one and its still showing up how the hell is that possible when it was 19 hours ago. Well just a heads up dont buy them they are expensive it was 15 per box.
Our lactation consultants and nurses and doctors have all said as long as you are not tipsy, your breastmilk is fine. No need to pump and dump. If you can feel no alcohol in your body, you are good to go. It metabolizes out of your breastmilk just like out of the rest of your body.
The human body metabolizes alcohol just as quickly in milk as it does in the bloodstream. What are you talking about, "release it"?? Do you use leeches to get booze out of your blood before driving, too? That's not how it works. You don't have to throw away your milk.
If you are buzzed, you should not be nursing. If you have one drink, you can nurse your baby the next time your baby is hungry. If your baby sleeps at least a solid six hours at night, having two drinks after baby goes to bed is fine. Your body will have metabolized the alcohol in your system by the time your baby wakes up to nurse again.
Honestly, one of the biggest concerns with nursing mothers drinking alcohol is the fact that it can negatively affect milk supply (that's with hard alcohol, not beer - actually, a good dark beer has been shown to increase lactation, an excellent reason to occasionally partake!). The tiny amount of alcohol that may still exist in breastmilk when a woman imbibes in moderation has never been shown to cause harm to babies in studies.
They've done studies showing the amount of alcohol in. Breastmilk. The training classes say if your head is clear your milk is fine. One drink your fine. The alumni transfered into BM is so miniscule unless your getting wasted.
With my past 3 babies.. I always pumped and dumped twice per drink. If you dont release it, it stays in the milk. Ive never had any issues.
No. Those test strips are garbage. They test positive with incredibly miniscule amounts that couldn't possibly be unsafe for anyone. Having one drink is just fine. DON'T waste that liquid gold by pumping and dumping, and don't endanger your supply by abstaining from nursing your baby. One drink is perfectly safe, it's all about moderation.
