Be careful walking your strong dog. NEVER WRAP THE LEASH AROUND YOUR WRIST. It's better to let the dog take off then get pulled down or fall. If she is to much for you to handle walking see if you can have someone else do it for you or look at possibly getting a dog Walker.
My fiance and I had a pitbull and he never wanted to leave my side. He was only a year old. He wouldn't pull when I walked him, he gave me kisses on his own and on demand, he always wanted to cuddle with me but when my fiance walked him he would pull so he was walking next to me, wouldn't give my fiance kisses at all. We ended up taking to a shelter because my fiance's mom kicked us out and his grandma had a huge fit about the dog. Also my grandparents dog, a pure bred black lab, is very attached to me and when I squat to pet her she well lean her head against my belly. She was never really attached to me before. I would love for my son to grow up with a dog because I did and it was one of the greatest experiences I had.
With my first pregnancy my pitbull would always want to be right next to me with her head as close to my belly as she could. She often would lay with her head cuddled up to my belly and when my son would kick she would lift her head up real quick in surprise. It was so cute. So far with this pregnancy she's not acting any different yet. I'm almost 12 weeks. She never really acted different when I went into labor though. Sounds like you have a protective dog :)
I am wondering about my dog. She is a pit bull 10 most and she is so wild. I don't know what else to do she is getting a bit too much for me to handle because she is so strong. I'm 32 weeks is it because I'm pregnant she acts this way. She has also had her 1st heat.
Dogs can absolutely sense labor. Is he telling you? Maybe, maybe not. Dips can smell you are pregnant from the moment your hormones change. They can sense cancers before doctors and technology can. They sense seizures before they happen. But usually the dog is trained to tell you and you are trained to pick up the commands back. They can absolutely sense labor.
However some dogs will change their behavior when something is about to happen. My dog is naively my first child we do everything together. She is an above average dog with temperment and intelligence. Since I have been pregnant she "herds" me around more and is very protective of me being in the bathroom lol. She was also protective of me when I was having my period and she would look at me like "mom your bleeding!!!!" Sorry if its tmi but I think it's endearing how we share or lives with a different species. I Also walk and train dogs.
I love dogs as well and I think this is really cute! I hope my dog does the same with me! :)
I'm definitely a dog lover, and interested in these kinds of topics. I don't know, but I'm curious about this also. I know dogs are sensitive to the different smells we emit, so if he sensed a change in your hormones, maybe it's got him on alert; not that he necessarily predicts you're going into labor, just that he senses something's different.
Dogs are known to sense things like this. Not sure if labor is truly one of them. But sickness or something happening yes. So it is very very possible he does. Good dog. Lol you got a keeper there.
