For a first time mom, the classes can be valuable. Many hospitals offer them for free.
The breaking you do during labor is completely different than every day breathing. They also teach you relaxation techniques and describe the different stages of labor and what happens or your body also those times.
I'm not a fan of lamazze. I prefer hypnobirthing or the Bradley method.
I would highly recommend any new mom attend a class.
They are not mandatory but they are very informative. I know they helped me understand what I was in for with my first son. And I took my aunt to most of them with me because my sons father was unavailable during the class.and mine were like 90bucks for four weeks of classes twice a week. Wic offers free ones you can take too.
We purchased laugh and learn DVD and I highly recommend it. She covers everything and it's just like going to a class.
I didn't bother. I figured I had 23yrs of breathing practice under my belt so I'd be fine lol.
You don't have to go. But check out youtube. I watched a lamaze class online and a parenting class as well. All the places I called were super expensive. And I'd rather put that money towards the baby when he's here.
Not necessary. All the info they give can be found in a book or online. you're not missing anything if you don't go.
