I have a friend who always waited until baby developed the first tooth before introducing solids. In the end, this is something you need to decide for yourself, but I definitely don't recommend it before four months. I started both my babies on solids at five months, but they were both two weeks overdue, so they were actually ready then. My daughter already had teeth and wouldn't eat anything pureed, so she was eating small chunks of fruits and veggies at five months. My son only wanted pureed until around seven months, and then he abruptly wouldn't eat anything without texture. Within a week, he had his first tooth.
In short, every baby is different. Wait until baby begins to watch you while you eat and show an interest in food before introducing it. And baby must be able to sit up on their own. If baby meets these criteria, even if not yet six months, then let baby taste something soft off your plate. If baby wants more, you are ready to start solids. If baby does not meet these criteria until seven or eight months, feel free to wait longer to start. Breast milk or formula will continue to adequately meet baby's needs.
^^ 6 months start with stage 1 once your baby can sit up on his \ her own then start with stage 2 or "sitters" my daughter is 8 months, we started her in stage 2 at 7 months
6 months would be the ideal age.
The digestive system isn't developed enough to digest anything other than breastmilk or formula before six months of age. And baby cereals (especially rice) are almost completely devoid of any actual nutrients and should be avoided anyway. My son started with cooked carrots and peas and mashed avocado and banana at just shy of seven months old and we'll likely wait at least that long with this baby.
My pediatrician recommended giving taste around 4-5 months since my baby is exclusively breastfed so she can get use to textures but 6 months is usually the common time to introduce pureed baby food
