Very common & totally normal.  It'll be fine.  You'll just need antibiotic as a precaution to keep baby healthy.   I don't understand why your doc didn't explain it to you.

Group B strep are bacteria found normally in the intestine, vagina, and rectal area in 15%-45% of all healthy women.
Group B strep infections can affect neonates and adults.
Most pregnant women who are colonized by the bacteria have no symptoms. it is not a STD and can't be spread that way

I'm positive and everything was fine had to get 2 IV bags of antibiotics before delivery. It's really not a big deal as long as you get the medicine:)

Positive with my first and perfectly ok. Make sure you are given antibiotics during labor if positive. The bacteria is harmless to us but can be deadly for baby. My midwife told me she has patients who actually refuse the test and antibiotics...I was shocked by this. Just had my test done on Monday, even if it's negative, I would still like to have the antibiotics just to be safe.

My sister did but laboured to quickly to get the shot and baby came out perfect. Make sure if you do have it though you get the shot before birthing as it can kill some babies if it gets into their system on the way out of the vagina.
