This job is a joke i mean.
So i confronted her last night, she started yelling and screaming and then said i was threatening her. Lol this job is a job. Glad i saved all the text messages from my manager. I go in today at 3 and just have this feeling im not goung to have a job after today.
I don't think you should be told to confront her. It could so readily backfire, looking like you were picking a fight, and devolve into a situation where a third party would not be able to tell you were the one who was being harassed. Please don't confront her unless you can do it in writing and calmly.
I told my manager today that i am confronting her tonight. I have never been one to back down to someone bullying me or doing it in my presence and i will not make an exception for her. My manager did say he would be here at 11 tonight when she comes in to relieve me. So i will keep you all updated on how that goes. My guess is its not going to go very well at all. I just do not see the purpose in her acting that way towards anyone, and i should not be put in the situation where i should be told to confront her being almost 4 months pregnant anyways. Im tired of her attitude. She acts like i owe her something and i dont. Thank you all for the help.
I Was Physically And Verbally Abused At A Job. I Went To Hr And They Didn't Do Anything. I Was The One That Got Laid Off A Few Months Later. Another Job I Was Being Singled Out And Went To Hr And My Managers Manager And Said What Was Happening. They Didn't Do Anything As WelL. I Tried To Switch Departments And They Got Mad At Me. They Were Writing Me Up For Nursing Work... I Had The Flu 3 Times In 6 Weeks And Pink Eye. I Was Working For An Eye Dr At The TIme And Would Have Thought they Would Have Understood I Couldn't Cone To Work With A Contagious Infection.... Oh Well. I Am Not Their Either Now. Sometimes Its Better To Move On. Even If You Talk To Her It Doesn't Mean Things Will Change. Sometimes Employers Just Don't Care
It would be worth talking to an employment lawyer. Ramada Inn is a franchise? If the lawyer says the owners of your hotel can't be reached for reasons of the size of their company or something, you might even talk to the national Ramada that sells the franchises. Of course, it is a rocky road to file a harassment claim, since although the law protects people who complain from being retaliated against, this usually means (in practice) that you do get retaliated against and just add that to your list of grievances at the eventual lawsuit. And of course, eventual lawsuits don't solve your problem now.
Anyway, make a thorough and very complete log of everything that has happened, and line up names and phone numbers of people who will have witnessed it. Then take that to a lawyer who specializes in employment law, and ask if it constitutes a hostile work environment by the law's definition.
Good luck.
I work for ramada inn. Our hotel may have 20 employees but they own around 6 hotels in the area... im going to do some research and see what kind of rights i do have. I have had things thrown at me, i have had her get in my face and yell and scream. Its not fair and seems like im the only one who is willing to put my foot down and deal with it. Im tired of.
If this is a large business, you probably have some legal rights. If it is small (less than 50 employees) you probably only have the right to quit. (Workplace harassment laws are not meant to put small businesses out of business, so I'm afraid there is little protection if you work for a small place.)
