Thanks for all your help. Definitely going to look into it!
Take a look at your pay stubs and see if you are currently paying portion of your salary into SDI or state disability insurance. If you are you can make a claim with your local employment office for disability claims as that covers pregnancy disability as well. In California, pregnancy disability generally covers 4 weeks before the due date, 6 seeks after you give birth vaginally or 8 weeks after you give birth by cesarean. Disability benefits are calculated as 55% of your regular pay.
In most states, you can not get unemployment during maternity leave because you can't actually work during that time. Unemployment has requirements that you must be willing and able to take a job.
I've known some ladies that use short-term disability for money while off if they're job doesn't offer maternity leave. I have no idea how it works, but may be worth looking in to.
I live in Oregon and I'm trying to get something thru unemployment. I was told most likely won't get anything. I've literally tried everything and there is nothing that can help! Oregon is one of the many states that doesn't offer any kind of maternity leave pay. Thru unemployment I'm applieing for a leave of absence from work... Doubt I will get it tho. I hope wherever u live, u can find something that helps! Good luck!
Call your local social security office. You may qualify? In WA its 700$ something a month I think. You may be eligible.
I don't think you can unless you're jobs offer paid maternity leave.
