insurance woes!

I need some opinions mommies!
I am 23 and a nanny so I don't have health insurance. I was looking up private plans but the very best I can get is still about $150 a month and a $5000 deductible. My doctors office offers a discount to women without insurance, and I'vehhad previous experiences with the hospital where they will give me a discount if I just call and ask. I am just trying to decide if insurance iseven wworth it? What do you recommend? Can I try to get the baby on Medicaid after its born?
Help! I am terrible at this kind of thing!

Thanks everyone, I filled out the application yesterday and I just realized when it asked my annual income I think I put our combined income... But it also asked just my hourly and I did all that. So hopefully that doesn't hurt me?

No you don't pay anything for medicaid & I think you would definitely qualify! My husband makes a good amount of money every month and that eliminated him which was okay because we wanted it for me &our daughter ... Your pregnant also so I think you'd be accepted

I would try medicaid first. You should qualify. If not they may be able to help you find a plan on the open market. I would really advise against forgoing insurance. If there was any bump in your pregnancy or time spent in the nicu you could end up in bankruptcy. You don't need that stress!

Thank you all that helps a lot! Do you pay anything out of pocket with medicaid? Will I qualify? We don't make much but we are good savers and own a home.

You can get medicaid now for you and then when the baby is born you can have the baby added on to it. My step daughter did that when she got pregnant
