I live in upstate new york, along lake ontario. And will be driving down the coast all the way to central Fl. Im also nervous just because i will have my baby in the car. My mom told me just to be prelared and leave when i know there are no major storms coming through. It should only take us maybe a day and a half. (Im adding extra time due to having the baby with us)
where are you moving from? I live in Vermont...I totally understand bring scared of driving in the snow but the roads are kept cleaned off during winter. you just shouldn't do it during a storm.
I live in canada and the trick to driving in the snow is drive for the road condition and if you need to pull over do it. If the roads are snow packed and slick slow down even if it means going under the speed limit. Drive the speed your comfortable with.
I used to live in Missouri, don't be too worried about driving in the snow. As long as you have the right tires and you drive safely, ya know, not going over the speed limit, you should be fine. The highways are usually the first to get cleared of snow when a big snow storm goes through anyway.
I moved up here at 4 months pregnant. And he wants to go back now. Ive just never driven through snow and im worried. But thats why im planning everything wayy ahead of time.
have an emergency plan and phone numbers, and always have a plan b
if you rent a car get one with snow tires. pack a lot of blankets and extra things that you need day today.
the move will not be as bad as you think, I understand your worry I moved from Texas the Idaho pregnant and that was stressful so I cannot imagine with my baby already being born.
just plan and pack early to get stress off your mind
