When do females first begin ovulating?

What's the earliest a female starts ovulating? I read somewhere that it's 2 weeks or so before the first period, but am not sure. Just for general information.

Asim,  yes,  the information that you 'read somewhere' is correct.  Your question is a concern,  though,  because it seems unlikely someone would go to the effort to create a profile on a medical forum just to ask something out of purely idle curiosity.  I can think of several different motivations for trying to figure out how to predict when a child could possibly get pregnant,  and all of them are unsettling.
