Baby Dust 4...POUF!

Hi Everyone!  I'm so excited to start the 4th long post.  :)

Tonight I am having some light cramps on my right abdomen.  I bought a test (hopefully it will work) to take on the morning of Father's Day, the 15th!  :)

I am curious, I know I've read/heard a lot of ladies say, but all of you out there who are mommies or soon to be:  How did you tell your significant other about the pregnancy and upcoming parenthood and what was their reaction?

Thank you!
~Your Katebud~

keeks-oh, how i wish i could find a gay male doctor!!  that would be the next best thing to my woman doctor...maybe even better because he would probably be so much fun!
as far as the waterbirths, i have heard the same thing as you...to wait till you are at least 5cm and a breaking point for pain or else it could slow things down...weirdly enough, if you wait to the right time, you can speed things up which is appealing to me!  my husband finds my birth plan a little odd.  i think he is freaked out by waterbirths and doesn't understand why i don't want to just lay on the dry table relaxed with an epidural!!  that was my original plan till i started looking into my other options...i just wish i wouldn't have waited so long to get hooked on waterbirths when i'm not 100% sure they offer it at my hospital!!  i've just grown afraid of the epi-.  i don't like the idea of the needle in my back and most of all, i don't like the idea of feeling numb from the hips down!!  i hate when i go to the dentist and i am numb, no way will i like the feeling not feeling half of my body!!!  we will see...
my hospital has a nursery, but lets you keep baby in your room.  at my 27 week appt they gave me the registration packet at my doctors office.  that way, you fill out your paperwork, insurance info, etc in advance and send it in so you don't have to do it when you are in labor which makes sense...  whichever one of us goes first, we need to get back on here ASAP to give the other all of the complete, gorry details!!!

jamie-that's funny you had a hosptial room full of students and interns for your delivery!!  it sounds like your little boys grew very quickly!!  you are right, you next little one may come out skipping and singing!!

princesska-a dying bear??  yikes!!!  but i believe it!  all of those ladies on a baby story also sound like dying bears so your husband was probably pretty accurate in his description!  i am thinking i can do it, just hoping that the labor is not too terribly long!

krissy - i had natural labours with both my girls and am going back for a third natural. however i am more scared this time and thinking bout epidural just cause i still remember  how painful it all is. but i really would prefer the natural so fingers crossed i dont chicken out. it is all a bit to hard to wxplain what it feels like. but my husband says i screamed like a  dying bear so i spose it was pretty bad. def the worst pain you will ever feel but nothing you can really explain. feels like you have a watermelon stuck in your butt and whohoo and the pressure of it bearing down is unbearable so the actual pushing out bit is relief from that. where as most people think the pushing out bit is the worst pain. i am sure you will be fine with all natural so go for it!!

keeks - you sound like you are in good spirits even with the shortening and BH. hope all goes well for you and baby stays in the oven for weeks yet. the BH are weird and uncomfortable but nice to know everything is going like it should be.

katebud - how are things prgressing for you? i hope the morning sickness hasnt kicked in and things are going well for you.

jamie - cant wait for us all to hear what you are cooking in the oven. i have a feeling it is a boy too.

all others still ttc hope you get your bfp soon********************baby dust***************

Krissy- Thanks!! It was all stressful a little the bday and anniversary just because of driving for our trip and with the boys it was umm different.
Yes I can't believe it either, time really flew this time. Soon we will be able to find out if I am right and its another boy, or its a girl!! Man after having twin boys and them being very very energetic and since they were crawling by 6 months, and walking by 9 months I am wondering if this one will pick all those things up just as quick!!

Keeks- Yes potty training ah the joys of it!! Well I thought I would give it a try, and since they aren't ready right now its not a big deal, but in September they should be more then ready to be able to potty train and what not and I will continue to try and hope for the best!!
Oh yes those flutters, it is reliving pregnancy all over again... Since with my boys when I felt them I did not know it was twins, but I should of since I felt the flutters all over the lower part of my tummy, and for some reason it annoyed me they just felt weird!!
Now its just on my left side right by my hip and my hip today is very sore, but ah well!!
I took a look at your u/s picture very cute, don't think I saw my boys ever blowing bubbles and I went for ultra sounds every week LOL!! But I did see them kick at eachother and what not which was kinda funny, due to now they always hit, kick and push eachother oh and steal toys!!

The internal ultra sounds I will be used to when its time for me to get them, I had them every week from 24 weeks on with my boys due to my cervix shortening, and about having male doctors be the one to see everything, well when your in labor you won't give a damn as long as they get that baby out haha.
For my boys I did it with an epidural and so I did not feel nothing when it was pushing time and I had interns, bosses, and students all in there so that was weird!!

Ive had like 8 internals since the whole ordeal of being sent to another hopsital at 25 weeks......I get one at every appt , mostly to make sure my cervix stays shut & I dont dilate.....I've also had 2 internal ultrasounds.....I had never seen a doctor other than mine for a PAP before.....and even that was kinda scary , but I swear being pregnant has made me throw caution to the wind & my modesty LOL....I had a male doctor & a female doctor in Vancouver, I have a specalist here who is male & Gay ( LOVE HIM ) and I have my regular doctor lol....Plus the 2 ultrasound techs haha!....I think im just used to it now.....and you will be too dont worry hun!......Once your in that mode that its all for your baby it wont matter if its a male or female as long as they can make sure its all okay! :)............Usually though like you said you dont get internals until 36 weeks , and thats probably a good thing! :P.....what made you think that you had lost your mucous plug?....scary!.....Krissy hun , I think you should tell all your fears & concerns regardless of the doctor , its better to be safe than sorry , trust me.....and for your sanity its probably better you have the answers you need!......It really isnt bad I promise , even if it is a male doctor , I find the male doctors are more gentle anyways than Females....and man if you can find a gay one your laughing! I love the gay doctor I have cause hes more uncomfortable than me LOL

I stopped working around 16 weeks because of back/hip pain , so its worked out well! :)

A water birth would be so awesome! .....be so relaxing , and the water apparently really helps when it comes to pushing.....I've heard though that for a water birth , to wait until your at your breaking point for pain before you get in , because if you start out your labour in water , it isnt an effective pain reliever when you really need it!.....I think a natural birth is totaly 100% the way to go.....Im too afraid to get an epidural or anything , I think the only pain med I may consider is the gas.....but thats a BIG maybe and my breaking point in getting the gas would be just so over-tired and exhausted , that I would need the pick me up to push!......What does your husband think of the water birth idea? and going natural?.....I think one of the other biggest things to natural , is you need the support BIG TIME....I know for me if I wanted to give up I NEED to have someone tell me I can ya know?

Im still not afraid LOL.....I dont know , im sure its going to hurt like hell & be the most uncomfortable time ever , but its just nothing something that scares me......I wish I could have a birth plan , but we dont , and I dont even think i'll bother to make one until im past 36 weeks , if I make one and get all excited about it and plan it the way I want it to be , I think it would make it that much harder if something happens early , because they dont even give you an option for a birth plan then because its all up either stopping labour or getting the baby out.....You got a registration package at your hopsital? thats kinda cool!.....We get nothing lol , a thing on what to bring & some visting hour guidelines , but its outdated LOL.....Now because we no longer have a nursery to take the baby the husbands stay in your room or a support person of your choice to help you.....Its ridiculous but whatever!

Jamie ~ Sounds like everythings going good with you Great to hear!....Hopefully round 2 of potty training goes good :)....YAY your so close to being able to finding out the gender!.....Awww I miss those first little flutters , they were so neat :)......Its like re-living the beginning of pregnancy through you! lol

I just put up a new ultrasound picture too! Its so cute , he was blowing bubbles during it

keeks-so your doctors are doing internal exams?  my doctor (maybe it's different in the us) probably won't do internals till around 36 weeks.  i swore that i began to lose my mucous plug yesterday but fortunately, nothing else since so maybe i'm okay.  i should talk to my doctor about it on wed at my appt, but i am seeing the man this visit and i am afraid that he will try to do an internal!!  i really need to overcome my fear of male doctors!  i may wait to bring it up till next time and talk to the female doctor about it.  i'm so silly.  i wish i weren't so weird about male doctors!  i just know that i will end up with one for delivery!!!  i have the bad tightening too!  it feels so weird.  still working.  feeling great except for 4am leg cramps!!  you have stopped work, haven't you?

a baby story-sometimes i think it's helpful for me to watch and other times i think it really freaks me out!  oh they look like they were in so much pain!!

labor and delivery-has anyone thought about this or developed a birthing plan?  i've decided that i am going to do a water birth which means that i am going to attempt without pain relief.  i used to be very "pro epidural" but i have recently changed my mind.  i am going into it as open as possible and will take it if i really need it, but i am really excited about water birth and going all natural...we will see...  i find out monday (at my first childbirth class!!) if my hospital offers this birthing pool option.  i didn't see anything about it in my registration packet.

jamie-happy birthday and anniversary!!!!  i can't believe you are 17 weeks!  almost time to find out a boy or a girl!!!

anyone given natural birth before?-what exactly does it feel like?  the women on a baby story scream so loud as if their legs are being cut off!!  would you go natural again or was it so bad that you wouldn't?

Ah yes its so unlike me to miss out on this site!!
Well sorry I have been a way, but June 30th was my birthday, and then July 1st (Canada Day) if your in Canada was our 3yr marriage anniversary so we went a way. Even though it rained the whole time, but yet in Edmonton it has been +30 the whole week so disappointing but that is okay.

Yes Krissyy I still think its a boy, not sure though we will see.

Keeks- My boys well I tried potty training, but I learned real fast that they are still a little young yet, so I am starting in the fall when they are 20-21 months something like that!

And almost at week 17 here soon and those flutters have started recently and seem to be getting stronger every day actually! But, unfortunately it has placed itself on my left hip side where sometimes standing it hurts my hip, or moving my left side.

Katebud- Luckily for me with my twins and this pregnancy I have avoided morning sickness!! So I hope it all goes well for you lol
